# Urlsome > Short links for agents: your assistant or customer-facing bot shortens links, changes where they go and reads the clicks over MCP or the API. Every link stays editable. Urlsome gives AI agents short links. ChatGPT, Claude, Grok Bot, Cursor or the bot that talks to your customers makes them over MCP or the HTTP API: one at a time or fifty at once, on urlso.me with a random code or, for up to 5 links, a word you choose (6 characters or more), a title and UTM tags. Every link stays editable after it is shared: ask your assistant to send it somewhere else or retitle it, and what you printed, pasted in a bio or sent in a newsletter keeps working. A link can ask for a password before it opens, and a PDF or image attached in the chat becomes a short link behind a password too: people enter it, then the file opens; replace the file later and the link and password stay. Clicks are counted per day, over 7, 30 or 90 days, without storing anything about the visitor. Free includes 1,000 new links per calendar month (UTC), up to 50 per request, 10 password-protected links a month, and 100 shared files a month with 10 GB of storage, up to 100 MB each; a link with no clicks for 12 months is retired and its code stays yours. People only sign in with their email to connect an assistant; there is no dashboard to learn. ## What it does - Six characters: urlso.me/k3Xa9P fits in a bio, a flyer or a message. Or choose the word for up to 5 links, 6 characters or more. - Change where it goes: Flyers, bios and newsletters keep working when the page behind them moves. - See the clicks: By day, over 7, 30 or 90 days, shown in the chat. - Many at once: Up to 50 links in one request; the ones that fail are listed, the rest are made. - Links with a password: A page asks for the code you chose before the destination shows. 10 a month on Free. - Files from the chat: A PDF or an image becomes a short link behind a password: 10 GB per account, up to 100 MB each, replaceable without changing the link. ## Example requests - "Shorten this for my Instagram bio." A short link on urlso.me with a random six-character code, like urlso.me/k3Xa9P. - "The bio link should go to the summer sale now." Same short link, new destination. What is printed or pasted keeps working. - "How many clicks did the flyer link get this week?" Clicks by day, over 7, 30 or 90 days, in the chat. - "Make short links for these 40 product pages." Up to 50 in one request, each with its own short code. - "Share this PDF with a password for the client." They enter the code first, then the PDF opens. Replace the file later: same link, same code. - "Send the customer a short link to their invoice." Your own agent, from the chat on your website or WhatsApp. Urlsome is a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in) at https://urlsome.com/mcp and an HTTP API at https://urlsome.com/api. API keys (`Authorization: Bearer sk_shortener_…`) work on both. ## Price - Free. Add Urlsome from ChatGPT's apps, or as a connector with the MCP URL on this page. Sign in with your email, then paste the link and ask: "shorten this for my bio". The short link shows up in the chat with a Copy button. - Can Claude shorten links? Yes, with Urlsome connected. Add it in Claude's connectors (web, desktop or Cowork; claude mcp add in Claude Code) and ask in plain words. Claude shows the link, and later its clicks, in the chat. - Is there a URL shortener MCP server? Urlsome is one: a remote MCP server with sign-in (OAuth) at urlsome.com/mcp. It works in ChatGPT, Claude, Grok Bot, Cursor and any MCP client, and every request is a plain sentence. - Why use a short link instead of the full address? A short link like urlso.me/k3Xa9P is 15 characters, while the full address with its tracking tags can run past 100, so it fits in a bio, a text message or a printed card, and people can read it out and type it. It stays on one line in emails and chats and looks like a link rather than a tracking string. With Urlsome it also stays editable after you share it, and its clicks are counted by day. - Can I change where a short link goes after sharing it? Yes. Tell your assistant where the link should go now. The short link stays the same, so what you printed, pasted in a bio or sent in a newsletter keeps working, and every click is still counted. - Can I choose the word after urlso.me/? Yes, for up to 5 links on Free, with 6 characters or more, like urlso.me/summer-sale; every other link gets a random six-character code, like urlso.me/k3Xa9P. A word you chose stays yours, also if you delete its link, so deleting does not free a place. Pro, coming soon, will have unlimited words from 4 characters, reserved for you, and on your own domain any word works. - Can I protect a link or a file with a password? Yes. Ask "put a password on this link", or attach a PDF or an image and ask "share this with a password for the client". Whoever opens the short link sees a page that asks for the password; only then does it go to the destination or open the file. Free includes 10 password-protected links a month; shared files have their own allowance. We keep only a hash of the password, so ask your assistant for a new one if it is lost. - Can I host files? Yes. Attach a PDF, PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF in the chat and ask to share it with a password. It becomes a short link on urlso.me that opens the file once the password is entered; nothing is public. To send a corrected version, ask to replace the file: the link and the password stay the same. - How big can files be? Up to 100 MB each on Free, with 10 GB of storage per account and 100 shared files per calendar month (UTC). Deleting a shared file frees its space. Pro, coming soon, will take files up to 2 GB and 50 GB in total, and files that open without a password. - Who can open a protected link? Anyone with the link and the password: they type it on a page before the destination or the file appears, and that browser stays in for 12 hours. The destination is never shown before. A new password closes the sessions opened with the old one; we keep only a hash of it, so if it is lost, ask your assistant to set a new one. - Do short links expire? A link that people use keeps working. A link with no clicks for 12 months is retired: it answers "this link has expired" and its short link stays yours, so nobody else can take it. Ask to bring it back with a destination. - Is it free? Yes. Free includes 1,000 new links per calendar month (UTC), up to 50 in one request, a random code per link or your own word for up to 5 links (6+ characters), changes at any time, UTM tags, clicks by day, 10 password-protected links a month and 100 shared files a month, 10 GB in total and up to 100 MB each. Normal rate limits apply. - How do I add short links to my own AI agent? Create an API key in your account and give it to your agent: it can use the MCP server or the HTTP API. A customer asks for their invoice or booking, and your agent sends a short link. - What counts as a click? Every time someone opens the short link and is redirected. We keep the day, the country and the referring site, aggregated per link; no IP addresses, no cookies. - How do I sign in? Is there a password? No password. You sign in with your email: we send a link and an 8-digit code from login@urlsome.com. Your own agent uses an API key or the MCP's OAuth. ## Optional - [Privacy](https://urlsome.com/privacy/) - [Terms](https://urlsome.com/terms/) - Support: support@urlsome.com
